The Sony Ericsson C510 Cyber-shot has a 2.2-inch QVGA scratch-resistant display, quad-band GSM support plus tri-band UMTS/HSPA connectivity. On board there's an accelerometer for auto screen rotation and motion gaming plus an M2 memory card slot and stereo Bluetooth. Google Maps for Sony Ericsson C510

Posted by M-vincent Monday, December 14, 2009

The Google Maps mobile application on your Sony Ericsson C510 means that you can pull up maps and satellite images of your location onscreen and search for directions to other locations.

There isn't a GPS receiver inside the Sony Ericsson C510 but the Google Maps application enables you to find your approximate position on a map quickly and easily, using information from mobile cell sites to determine the area you're in.

With a quick button press, the application can communicate with a remote server to identify where you are and send mapping information back to the phone via a short data call.

On your C510's display you can see your estimated location on a map or satellite as a shaded blue circle around a flashing blue dot. This allows for the uncertainty of cellular approximation as opposed to precise GPS positioning.

You can zoom into a map or satellite image of the location using shortcut keys, and move the onscreen cursor to get maps of places other than your current location. You can also search for nearby places of interest, such as bars, restaurants, banks and so on, get them displayed on the map or get directions. These can be stored into favourites - along with any other location you choose - for quick access later.

There is the option to employ exact GPS satellite location-finding with the C510, however, by connecting the C510 wirelessly to a standalone small Buetooth GPS module (you will have to buy one of these separately, though).

Youtube On Sony Ericsson C510

Posted by M-vincent

Not only can you view content on YouTube, you can also upload any video clip you want to straight from your phone

Sony Ericsson's Cyber-shot phones are all about imaging, and the C510 is no exception. It has plenty of up-range photography features and clever image-taking gadgetry for the keen mobile snapper.

In addition, the C510's camera is geared up for video shooting. Clips taken with the phone can be stored onboard, or uploaded straight to a variety of online services - including YouTube, via an easy-to-use application that comes pre-installed on the C510.

The YouTube application enables you to visit the online video sharing site, so you can search for, browse and view clips directly on your handset. Not only can you view content on YouTube, you can also upload any video clip you want to straight from your phone, using your regular YouTube account details to log on to the service. You can also manage and organise your account as you would from a desktop PC.

The C510's HSPA 3G connectivity means you can upload clips quickly and easily. You and your friends can then view them on YouTube on a PC in the usual way - or on another mobile phone.

It's simple to do. But make sure that you have an appropriate inclusive data plan so that all that data-hungry YouTube video watching and uploading isn't going to run up your phone bill...

Using YouTube
You can browse and watch YouTube clips without signing on to a YouTube account, but you will need an active YouTube account to upload your video clips.

Have your YouTube account username and password details to hand. If you don'y yet have one, you can easily set up a new account - visit www.youtube.com and click on Sign Up to set one up in just a few seconds.

Opera Mini for Sony ericsson C510

Posted by M-vincent

Opera Mini is a web browser designed primarily for mobile phones, but also for smartphones and personal digital assistants. It uses the Java ME platform and consequently requires that the mobile device be capable of running Java ME applications. Opera Mini is offered free of charge, supported through a partnership between its developer, the Opera Software company, and the search engine company Google.
Opera Mini was derived from the Opera web browser for personal computers, which has been publicly available since 1996. Opera Mini began as a pilot project in 2005. After limited releases in Europe, it was officially launched worldwide on January 24, 2006.
Opera Mini requests web pages through the Opera Software company's servers, which process and compress them before relaying the pages back to the mobile phone. This compression process makes transfer time about two to three times faster, and the pre-processing smoothes compatibility with web pages not designed for mobile phones.
